The Fool — My Take
Who is The Fool?
You, me, someone, anyone, and finally all of us at some point!
This is a person who is ready to embark on a new adventure. They have been thinking about it for a while, maybe? Or perhaps this path was thrust upon them with no input from them.
In traditional imagery, The Fool has a small bindle on a stick, the clothes on their back, and a small dog. That’s it. The rest of his earthly possessions are gone.
I always wonder what is in the bindle. I usually think of the essentials, food, water and maybe a change of clothes? But, what else? It’s not very big so I don’t think there is much.
What would you take with you on a new journey? Think in terms of physical, mental, and emotional when you answer this question.
Next, they are setting out on an unknown path, heading toward the great unknown.
But isn’t that life? Even with the best-laid plans, we still journey blindly.
The Fool is also very new on whatever path he is going down. When this card comes through a reading, I always wonder what new “thing” is someone doing? It could be as big as a new job, a brand new baby, or something as small as learning a new computer program or cooking a new recipe (depending on the type of reading, usually).
Whatever the journey is, set off with confidence, excitement, and a healthy dose of reality. True, you don’t know what’s going to happen, but on the other hand, it’s new and exciting and will likely be a learning experience — good or bad.
So, ask yourself… what journey do I want to go on? What is holding me back from starting?
